18-14-8: LAMPS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT ON BICYCLES:
   A.   Required And Optional Lights: Every vehicle subject to this chapter when in use at nighttime shall be equipped with a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet (500') to the front and a red reflector on the rear of a type approved by the Illinois Vehicle Code which shall be visible from all distances from one hundred feet (100') to six hundred feet (600') to the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps on a motor vehicle. A lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet (500') to the rear may be used in addition to the red reflector.
   B.   Sirens Prohibited: Vehicles subject to this chapter shall not be equipped with nor shall any person use upon the same any siren.
   C.   Brakes Required: Every vehicle subject to this chapter shall be equipped with a brake which will adequately control movement of and stop and hold such vehicle.
   D.   Reflectors: All vehicles subject to this chapter shall be equipped with adequate reflectors that are visible at night as required by the Illinois Vehicle Code as amended, all reflectors must be visible during darkness from a minimum distance of two hundred feet (200') from the rear and five hundred feet (500') from the side.
