17-2-2: REMOVAL FROM SIDEWALKS:
   A.   Responsibility Of Owner: Every owner and every person in charge or control of any building or lot of land within the City fronting or abutting on a paved sidewalk, except those lots listed on the snow register, shall remove and clear away or cause to be removed and cleared away snow, ice, sleet, or freezing rain from a path of at least thirty inches (30") in width along the entire length of the sidewalk which fronts or abuts their property and the roadway.
   B.   Time Limit For Removal: Except as provided in subsection C hereof, snow, ice, sleet, or freezing rain shall be removed as provided in subsection A of this Section within forty eight (48) hours after the cessation of any fall of snow, sleet, or freezing rain.
   C.   Maintain Sidewalk In Safe Condition: In the event snow, ice, sleet, or freezing rain on a sidewalk has become so hard that it cannot be reasonably removed without damage to the sidewalk, the owner shall cause enough sand or other abrasive material to be put on the sidewalk to make travel thereon reasonably safe and shall maintain the sidewalk in such condition until weather permits the owner to comply with subsection A of this Section.
