A. Pursuant to authority granted by the Illinois Compiled Statutes, a Planning Commission is hereby created, and shall be known as the Carbondale Planning Commission. Said Planning Commission shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council, and one City Council person serving in an ex officio capacity without the right to vote. Members of the Planning Commission shall also comprise the membership of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
B. The Chairperson may appoint subcommittees from the Commission’s membership as deemed necessary by the Commission to carry out the objects, purposes, and duties of the Planning Commission. Subcommittees are required to provide minutes and agenda in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. (Ord. 2017-45; Ord. 2020-51)
