6-3-2-2: DANGEROUS PLACES GUARDED:
Whoever shall leave open or insufficiently covered and protected, any cellar window, door, vault, well, cistern, excavation, coal hole, ditch or other like hole, upon or adjoining any street, alley or sidewalk, without securing or protecting the same, so as to prevent the danger of persons or animals from falling therein, shall be subject to a penalty of not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each offense; and every twenty four (24) hours which such place shall remain unprotected after notice to protect the same by some officer of the city shall be deemed a separate offense.
