3-3-13: PUBLIC DANCES:
   (A)   Permit Required: No person, either as owner, lessee, agent, manager or proprietor, shall conduct any public dance in the city, or use or rent any hall or room in the city for a public dance, without first having obtained a permit from the mayor and paid the license fee hereinafter provided for. Application for such licenses shall be made to the clerk of the city, and applicants shall state the name of the person proposing to conduct said public dance, the location thereof and the time when said public dance or dances are to be held. Before the issuance of any permit the same shall be presented to the mayor for his approval. (1959 Code § 7-1-13)
   (B)   License Fee: A license fee of three dollars ($3.00) for each public dance for which a permit is sought shall be paid to the clerk before any permit shall issue. (1959 Code § 7-1-14)
   (C)   Moral Character: A permit to conduct a public dance shall not be issued unless the applicant or applicants therefor are of good moral character. (1959 Code § 7-1-15)
   (D)   Police Supervision: Any public dance conducted in the city shall be under the supervision of the police department of the city and any permit the issuance of which is hereby provided for shall be issued subject to this provision. (1959 Code § 7-1-16)
   (E)   Power Of Police: Any police matron, special policeman or any police officer of the city shall have the power to arrest or eject any person guilty of loud, boisterous or disorderly conduct, or improper, vulgar or disorderly dancing, and to regulate the style of dancing. (1959 Code § 7-1-17)
   (F)   Time For Dancing: No public dances shall be conducted in the city on Sunday. No licensee or permittee hereunder shall permit any person under the age of sixteen (16) years to attend any such public dance unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. (1959 Code § 7-1-18)
   (G)   Definition Of Public Dance: By a "public dance" is meant any dance or gathering where dancing is engaged in wholly or in part as the evening's amusement, and which is open to the public generally, whether the same is free to the public or whether an admission fee is paid or tickets sold for the same.
