(A) Each full-time employee, whose salary or wage is paid in whole or in part by the city, shall be entitled to sick leave of 4.6 hours per 80 hours worked, for 26 pays per year, with the exception of firemen who shall accrue 14 hours per pay period.

(B) Employees may use sick leave, upon approval of the responsible administrative officer of the employing unit, for absence due to illness, pregnancy, injury, or exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to other employees and to illness, injury, or death in the employee's immediate family.

(C) Unused sick leave shall be accumulative without limit. The previously accumulated sick leave of an employee who has been separated from service with the City of Cambridge may be placed to his credit upon his re-employment with the City of Cambridge.
(D) The Mayor may require the employee to furnish a satisfactory affidavit that his absence was caused by illness due to any of the causes mentioned in division (B). After ten working days of absence, the City Auditor shall secure an affidavit from a doctor, selected by himself and with the employee's approval, as to the cause of absence and probable time of recovery, this being needed to ascertain whether or not an additional employee will need to be employed as a part-time replacement for the absent employee.
(E) Upon retirement only from city service and with five years or more with the city, all employees shall receive a lump sum settlement of all unused sick leave at the rate of one-half of all unused sick leave, not to exceed 480 hours, plus 10% of any remaining unused sick leave balance over 960 hours.
(F) This section shall be uniformly administered as to all city employees. This section does not interfere with existing unused sick leave credit in any agency of government where attendance records are maintained and credit has been given employees for unused leave.
