§ 33.048 PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTERS, QUALIFICATIONS AND APPOINTMENT.
   (A)   All probationary firefighters shall be appointed by the Chief and shall be on probation for one year after their appointment. Probationary firefighters will be required to complete a minimum training standard in that one year. Failure to complete the training will result in failure to complete the probationary period. Upon completion of their probationary period, new members must be approved by the majority of the members of the Fire Department.
   (B)   A list of the members shall be presented to the Board of Trustees for their records. These members must:
      (1)   Be 18 years of age;
      (2)   Submit to a background check;
      (3)   Attend eight regular monthly meetings during their probationary period;
      (4)   Attend all trainings offered by the Department, unless excused by the Chief or Deputy Chief; and
      (5)   All applicants are subject to a drug screening.
   (C)   Anyone who has quit the Calera Fire-Rescue on good terms is eligible to be rehired.
   (D)   Anyone who has been dropped due to disciplinary action or pending disciplinary action is not eligible for rehire.
