(A) Truck travel restricted. No vehicle or tractor having a gross weight on any axle in excess of 10,000 pounds shall be driven on any city street not designated as a truck route. This provision shall not apply to emergency vehicles. Vehicles engaged in the maintenance or construction of streets, street improvement or street utilities shall be covered by a special permit issued by the City Council permitting travel on streets not designated as truck routes.
(B) Truck routes. The following lists the truck routes:
(1) Frontage Road;
(2) Byron Avenue;
(3) First Avenue Northwest north to Seventh Street;
(4) Fourth Street from Second Avenue Northwest to First Avenue Northeast;
(5) First Avenue Northeast.
(C) Marking. The City Council shall cause appropriate signs to be erected which shall designate either truck routes or truck travel restriction streets.
(D) Violations. Any law enforcement officer may require a person driving a truck in a residential truck travel area to proceed to the nearest available public or private scale for the purpose of weighing. Any violation is a misdemeanor and shall be punishable as provided in § 10.99.
