Ground wire attachments of electric service upon water pipes are understood to be desirable in the interest of safety to the users of the electric current. The Department does not install such connections, derives no benefit from them, may be damaged by them, and tolerates them only because of their reputed importance in providing electric service safely. The city or Department assumes no responsibility or obligation in connection with the installation of water pipe ground connections or for the maintenance of the integrity or continuity of any ground attachment or connection made to the water pipe connection. The Department shall, if damage is occurring to the system, discontinue water service and require that corrective action be taken before water service is restored.
