A Planning Commission is hereby authorized to be established. The Planning Commission shall consist of three (3) members appointed by the Village President, with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The members of the Planning Commission shall serve respectively for the following terms, or until their respective successors are appointed and qualified: one for one year; one for two (2) years; and one for three (3) years. The successor to each member so appointed will serve for a term of three (3) years. One of the members of the Planning Commission shall be designated by the Village President, with the consent of the Board of Trustees, as Chair of the Planning Commission, and shall hold his said office as Chair until his successor is appointed. Such Chair, or in his absence the Acting Chair, may administer oaths and compel the attendance of witnesses. The Village President shall have the power to remove any member of the Planning Commission for cause and after a public hearing. Vacancies upon the Planning Commission shall be filled for the unexpired term of the member whose place has become vacant in the manner herein provided for the appointment of such member. The meetings of the Planning Commission shall be held at such times as the Planning Commission, by rule, directs. (1987 Code § 2-1-1)
