“The Ohio Residential Code for One, Two and Three-Family Dwellings”, as adopted in Section 1420.01, is hereby amended as follows:
308.7 Glass block walls/windows (Added). Construction using glass blocks shall conform to Section 2118.0 of the Ohio Building Code.
403.5 Garage footings (Added). Detached garages 672 square feet or less of floor area may be permitted to be placed on a monolithic slab with integral footing constructed in accordance with Section 403, subject to the approval of Chief Building Official or designee, who shall base his or her decision on the soil conditions and the design submitted for approval. Detached garages over 672 square feet shall have a footer that extends below the frost line.
1102.2 Return air distribution system (Added). Replacement fuel-fired equipment requiring return air shall be required to have a plenum constructed in compliance with the Ohio Mechanical Code (OMC), Chapter 3, unless waived by the Chief Building Official or designee for good cause.
2101.3.1 Removing or replacing a vented gas appliance (Added). Documentation shall be provided showing that the existing chimney has been examined, sized or relined so as to comply with the manufacturer's instructions prior to removal or replacement of a vented gas appliance. The common vent area shall be no greater than seven times smaller listed appliance categorized vent area. The following shall be considered to meet the intent of this section: an 8-inch by 8-inch masonry chimney liner with a 3-inch diameter natural draft vent entering; an 8-inch by 12-inch or 12-inch by 12-inch masonry chimney liner with a 4-inch diameter natural draft vent entering.
2101.10 Multiple solid fuel connections prohibited (Added). A solid fuel-burning appliance or fireplace shall not connect to a chimney passageway venting another appliance.
