§ 154.15 UNSAFE BUILDING DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-9 the town establishes the Brooklyn Unsafe Building Department.
   (B)   The Unsafe Building Administrator shall be appointed by the Council based on suitability for the position, as determined by the Council. The Unsafe Building Administrator may be, but shall not be required to be, a Town Council member and need not be a resident of Brooklyn. The Unsafe Building Administrator will serve as and perform the tasks of the Enforcement Authority pursuant to I.C. 36-7-9.
   (C)   The town hereby adopts all of the provisions of I.C. 36-7-9 including specifically without limitation the definition of "substantial property interest" as set out in the statute.
   (D)   The town specifies as the hearing board for hearings under this section, the following: one Town Council Member; one Fire Department appointee; one Police Department appointee; two Town citizens; approved by the Town Council.
   (E)   The hearing board, which will preside over hearings required or requested under the town’s Unsafe Building Law, shall be known as and shall perform the tasks of the Hearing Authority pursuant to I.C. 36-7-9. The Hearing Authority shall consist of three members appointed by the Council based on their suitability, as determined by the Council, to serve on the board and shall not be required to have any particular credentials or hold any other position with the town. Each member will serve for an indefinite term and may resign or be removed by the Council at any time.
