§ 70.02 WEIGHT LIMITS.
   (A)   At streets where by ordinance a limitation of weight has been enacted, as listed in Chapter 72, Schedule III, an appropriate sign indicating that weight limitation shall be posted at the intersections by the Town Marshal or other person designated by the Town Council to do so.
   (B)   Any police officer of the town, having reason to believe that any vehicle herein described or the load thereon is unlawful, is hereby authorized to stop, measure and weigh the same by means of portable or stationary scales and may require that the vehicle shall be driven to the nearest scales if the distance to the scales does not exceed a distance of 6 miles. If the police officer finds that the vehicle was loaded in violation of the provisions of this section, he or she shall have the right at that time to place and cause the excess load to be removed from the vehicle, and all material and goods so removed shall be removed and cared for at the risk of the owner or operator of the vehicle.
