The following definitions pertain to the general installation of wireless telecommunications facilities.
“Broadcast telecommunications.” The technology which enables information to be transmitted to a receiver for public use through the use of voice, video or data signals by means of electrical or electromagnetic systems and equipment.
“Co-location.” The location on a single telecommunications tower or other telecommunications structure with a telecommunications antenna or other wireless telecommunications equipment belonging to more than one wireless provider or other entities, including governmental agencies. Existing structures such as water tanks, smoke stacks, walls or roofs are applicable.
“Lot.” A discreet permanent parcel, identified as such by permanent parcel number upon the public record.
“Monopole.” A support structure, erected for wireless telecommunications purposes, constructed of a self-supporting hollow metal tube securely anchored to a foundation.
“Wireless telecommunications.” The technology which enables information to be exchanged through the transmission of voice, video or data signals by means of electrical or electromagnetic systems.
“Wireless telecommunications antenna.” The physical device through which electromagnetic, wireless telecommunications signals authorized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) are transmitted and received. Antennas used by amateur radio operators or for broadcast telecommunications of radio and video signals as regulated by the FCC are excluded from this definition.
“Wireless telecommunications equipment shelter.” The structure, whether it is situated above or below finished grade, in which the electronic receiving and/or transmitting equipment for a wireless telecommunications facility is housed.
“Wireless telecommunications facility.” A facility consisting of a telecommunications tower or other antenna-supporting structures and any accessory structures required to provide support services.
“Wireless telecommunications tower.” A monopole structure intended to support antennas used to transmit and/or receive telecommunications signals.
