(A) The owner of a dog or cat shall, within ten days after such dog or cat has been inoculated against rabies, procure an inoculation tag to be attached to a collar or harness to be worn by the animal whenever the animal is not confined in a secured enclosure.
(B) The village shall offer its citizens a non-transferable one-time animal identification tag for the lifetime of the animal. The cost for the identification tag shall be $10. The purpose of this voluntary fee is to register said animal with the village, so that an expedited identification may be made, if necessary, upon the animal’s separation from its owner. Any animal found wearing the village identification tag, that has been separated from its owner, will be held at the Brighton Police Department in order for the owner to retrieve their animal. Any animal not retrieved within a limited time period, will be transferred to the appropriate county animal control center. A replacement tag shall be $5, which is also non-transferable.
