§ 94.007 RECREATIONAL FIRES; WITHOUT PERMIT.
   (A)   Recreational fires are not regulated and a permit is not required where such fires are under the supervision of a responsible adult. The following are considered recreational fires:
      (1)   Ceremonial burning when conducted by a Native American spiritual advisor, as defined by Utah Administrative Code § 307-202-2;
      (2)   The use of devices for the primary purpose of preparing food such as outdoor grills and fireplaces, and the combustible material is natural gas, propane or clean, dry wood or charcoal; and
      (3)   Campfires and fires used solely for recreational purposes where such fires are under control of a responsible person and the combustible material is clean, dry wood or charcoal.
   (B)   (1)   Recreational fires shall not be conducted within 25 feet of a structure or combustible material. Except burning in a portable outdoor fireplace may be conducted if the burning occurs 15 feet or more from any structure.
      (2)   As outlined in division (A)(2) above, recreational fires which are for the primary purpose of preparing food are exempt from the distance restrictions outlined herein.
      (3)   Buckets, shovels, garden hoses or a fire extinguisher with a minimum 4-A rating must be readily available for use.
      (4)   (a)   Fires must be constantly attended by a responsible individual who is knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishing methods.
         (b)   An attendant shall supervise a recreational fire until such fire has been extinguished.
      (5)   No burning of trash or paper products is allowed.
      (6)   If the smoke emissions are offensive to occupants of surrounding property or the fire is determined to be hazardous, the fire then becomes a public nuisance and shall be extinguished.
