Not more than an aggregate of three dogs or cats over the age of six months may be kept on any residential, commercial or other premises within the town unless the owner of the animals holds a valid pet shop/breeder permit, whichever may be appropriate. Provided, however, if an owner of more than three cats, within 60 days of the adoption of this chapter, provides the Clerk-Treasurer’s office with a list of the cats, including their names, sex, approximate ages and general description, such owner may retain those cats for their lifetime but may not acquire additional cats until the total number falls below three.
