TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES
§ 71.01 AUTHORITY TO INSTALL TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES.
   The Traffic Engineer shall place and maintain traffic-control signs, signals, markers and devices when and as required under the traffic ordinances of the town to make effective the provisions of said ordinances, and may place and maintain such additional traffic-control signs, signals, markers and devices as he or she may deem necessary to regulate traffic under the traffic ordinances of the town or under state law, or to guide or warn traffic.

§ 71.02 OBEDIENCE TO TRAFFIC MARKINGS, SIGNS AND OTHER SIGNAL DEVICES.
   (A)   No driver of any vehicle shall disobey the instructions of any traffic-control device placed in accordance with this chapter unless otherwise directed by a police officer, subject to the exceptions herein granted the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle.

   (B)   (1)   A person who drives a vehicle must obey the markings, signs and other traffic-control devices placed within the town.
      (2)   If the operator of a motorcycle, motorized bicycle, motor scooter or bicycle approaches an intersection that is controlled by a traffic-control signal, the operator may proceed through the intersection on a steady red signal only if the operator:
         (a)   Comes to a complete stop at the intersection for at least 120 seconds; and
         (b)   Exercises due caution as provided by law, otherwise treats the traffic-control signal as a stop sign and determines that it is safe to proceed.
