139.14 PART-TIME AND AUXILIARY OFFICERS.
   In addition to the regular members of the Department, there may be part-time and auxiliary police officers as follows:
(a)   Part-time Police Officer. Part-time Police Officers shall be appointed by the Mayor, upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police. Prior to appointment, Part-time Police Officers shall have completed all schooling required by the State of Ohio Peace Officers Training Council and be state certified.
(b)   Auxiliary Police Officers. An Auxiliary Police Officer shall work as a volunteer, without compensation. An Auxiliary Police Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police and shall provide his/her own equipment, except weapon and required uniform, as determined by the Chief and Mayor. Auxiliary Police Officers shall be subject to such rules as prescribed by the Mayor and the Chief of Police and shall assist regular full-time and part-time Police Officers in their normal duties. Auxiliary Police Officers shall be appointed for a period of not more than one year.
