2-16-3: APPOINTMENTS AND VACANCIES; QUALIFICATIONS; PROHIBITION:
   A.   Appointments And Vacancies: The Boise Districting Commission shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Commissioners, once appointed and confirmed, are voting members. Should a vacancy occur on the Commission, the Mayor shall fill the vacancy in a like manner within fourteen (14) days or as soon thereafter as practicable. In the event the Mayor fails to timely act pursuant to this provision, the City Council President shall so act.
   B.   Member Qualifications: Commissioners shall consist of five (5) City residents who are qualified electors as defined by Idaho Code section 50-402(c). If a Commissioner moves outside of the City, the Commissioner shall resign their position, and a new Commissioner shall be appointed. Commissioners shall be diverse representatives of the City, including from different geographic areas of the City.
   C.   Prohibition: A person who has served on the Commission shall be ineligible to run for a City Council seat for five (5) years following such service. A person who has run for a City Council seat in the five (5) years preceding possible appointment to the Commission is ineligible to serve on the Commission. (Ord. 21-22, 5-3-2022)
