2-2-3: QUALIFICATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS:
   A.   Each member of the board shall be considered an officer of the Village.
   B.   No person holding an office under the United States, this State or any political subdivision thereof, or the Village shall be a member of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners or the Secretary thereof. The acceptance of any such office by a member of the board shall be treated as a resignation of his office as a member of the board or the Secretary thereof.
   C.   No person shall be appointed a member of the board who is related, either by blood or marriage up to the degree of first cousin, to any elected official of the Village. (Ord. 73-11, 3-14-1973; amd. 2012 Code)
   D.   Appointments may be made without limitation regarding political party status. All current members of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are hereby qualified to serve without regard to their relationship or political party status and their appointments are affirmed as of the adoption of this subsection.    E.   No person shall be appointed a member of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners who has been convicted of a felony under the laws of this State or comparable laws of any other state of the United States. (Ord. 73-11, 3-14-1973; amd. 2012 Code)
