A. The board shall appoint all officers and members of the fire department and police department; except, that the chief of police and the chief of the fire department shall be appointed by the village president, with the consent of the board of trustees.
B. All appointments by the board to the police and fire departments, other than that of the lowest rank, shall be from the rank next below that to which the appointment is made.
C. The board shall conduct and hold examinations for original appointment and promotion examinations for the police and fire departments as provided by law.
D. The board shall issue certificates of appointment as provided by law. (Ord. 73-11, 3-14-1973)
