§ 32.01  POLICE POWERS.
   (A)   The Chairperson of the Town Board having a common council, each member of a Board of Trustees shall possess, within the jurisdiction of the town, all the powers conferred by law upon sheriffs to suppress disorder and keep the peace pursuant to SDCL § 9-29-16.
   (B)   All police officers of the town possess the powers of constables, and are permitted to do the following:
      (1)   Execute and serve warrants;
      (2)   Pursue and arrest any person fleeing from justice in any part of the state; and
      (3)   Arrest and detain any person guilty of any breach of the peace, or any violation of the laws of the state or ordinance of the town.

§ 32.02  LAW ENFORCEMENT AGREEMENT.
   The town may enter into an agreement with Perkins County Sheriff’s office to provide police protection for the city. Any reference to “Chief of Police” in the ordinances shall refer to either the Sheriff, Code Enforcement Officer, or any designee of the Mayor or Sheriff in the instance the town has agreed to have law enforcement provided by Perkins County.
