7-1-8: MAILBOXES AND NEWSPAPER RECEPTACLES:
   A.   Installation Requirements: It shall be unlawful to erect or maintain a mailbox or newspaper receptacle on public grounds between the curb line or shoulder and the sidewalk or, where no sidewalk exists, property line, except in conformance with the following requirements:
      1.   Mailbox And Newspaper Receptacles: The location and height of a mailbox or newspaper receptacle shall be constructed in conformance with the requirements of postal regulation, section 156.5, as adopted by the United States postal service.
      2.   Supporting Structure: The mailbox or newspaper receptacle supporting structure shall be adequate to properly mount the box and shall be constructed of:
         a.   Wood no larger than four inches by four inches (4" x 4") square or a four and one-half inch (41/2") round post.
         b.   Metal pipe or conduit having inside diameter of no more than one and one-half inches (11/2") or a metal post weighing no more than two (2) pounds per foot.
   B.   Effective Date: This section shall apply to all mailboxes or newspaper receptacles constructed or reconstructed after the effective date hereof 1 . (2008 Code § 27-22)
