329.01 DEFINITIONS.
   (a)   "Development" includes any lawful land use authorized within the Zoning Code.
 
   (b)   "Land clearing" means those operations where trees and vegetation are removed and which occurs previous to construction of a building or buildings, grubbing and any necessary clearing operations.
 
   (c)   "Tree" means a woody plant with an erect perennial trunk diameter of two inches, four and one-half feet above ground level which at maturity is ten feet or more in height and which has a more or less definite crown of foliage.
 
   (d)   "Building area" means a designated outline of the construction area for a building, including an area ten feet around the perimeter of the foundation.
 
   (e)   "Historic or special interest tree" means a tree which has been found by the Shade Tree Commission to be of notable interest because of its age, size or historic association.
 
   (f)   "Diameter breast height (d.b.h.)" means the diameter in inches of a tree measured at four and one-half feet above the existing grade.
 
   (g)   "Grubbing" means the effective removal of understory vegetation from a site which does not include the removal of any trees with a diameter breast height (d.b.h.) of greater than eight inches.
