(a) Tree topping is an unacceptable pruning practice. Topping is defined as the severe cutting back of limbs larger than three inches in diameter to the subs within the tree’s crown, to such a degree so as to remove the normal canopy and disfigure the tree.
(b) In general, pruning standards established by the National Arborists Association should be followed. A copy of said information will be made available in the Safety-Service Director’s office.
