When a taxicab is tested or inspected, pursuant to § 120.02, the taximeter installed in such taxicab, pursuant to § 120.55 shall be tested. Each taximeter so tested shall be tested to determine the accuracy of its recording mechanism with respect to distance traveled either by running the taxicab with its attached meter over a course of a standard mile in length or by a mechanical check of the taximeter. In the event the taximeter is found defective or inaccurate, such taximeter shall not be used until it has been repaired and the accuracy of its recording system restored.
