§ 27-278 APPLICATION, QUALIFICATIONS.
   (A)   An applicant for a decorative appliance/gas log contractor or installer license shall submit a city competency application to the Permits and Inspections Department. This application shall additionally require the applicant to submit evidence of successful completion of the national fireplace institute certifications for the area of responsibility of the appliance. Installers must obtain two of the three following certifications, and successfully pass the journeyman gas fitters examination provided by the department’s independent testing agency with a minimum passing score of 70 percent. Contractors shall pass all three national fireplace institute certifications listed below and pass the journeyman gas fitters examination with a minimum passing score of 70 percent.
   (B)   National fireplace institute certifications:
      (1)   Certified gas specialist.
      (2)   Certified wood burning specialist.
      (3)   Certified pellet specialist.
   (C)   Submission of a current City of Lincoln or other approved jurisdictions decorative appliance/gas log license shall be evidence of minimum acceptable qualification, and shall cause the Permits and Inspections Department to issue said license when compliance with section 27-280 has been complied with.
