§ 8-44 CONDEMNATION—GENERALLY.
   Any building or other structure or any appurtenance or apparatus in, upon or about such building or other structure found either in whole or in part, to be structurally unsafe or dangerous in case, or as the result of fire or panic, or as the result of tornado, wind, lightning, deterioration or other cause, or which is insufficient or unsafe for the purposes for which it is intended to be used, shall be made safe and secure by the owner, agent, lessee or occupant of such building within the time set forth in written notice from the building official. Where immediate action is deemed necessary to protect life or limb, the building official may cause the building or structure, appurtenance, appliance or apparatus or any portion or part thereof to be taken down or repaired without delay, and the cost in amount of certified bills of all expenses incurred by the building official shall be collected in the manner provided for special assessments.
