(A) Required. Every gas, oil and solid fuel burner contractor engaged in the business of installing gas, oil and solid fuel equipment shall cause his or her name, residence and place of business to be registered with the Gas, Oil and Solid Fuel Burner Inspector, along with the telephone number of said business.
(B) Bond. Each person required to register shall give bond to the city in the sum of $10,000, conditioned upon a full indemnity to the city may be liable by reason of:
(1) Failure of the person to observe ordinances of the city pertaining to gas, oil and solid fuel burners;
(2) Failure of the person to observe all rules and regulations established under the authority of any ordinances of the city pertaining to gas, oil and solid fuel burners; and
(3) Negligence of the person or his or her employees in performing or protecting any gas, oil and solid fuel burner work.
(C) Insurance. Each person or firm prior to register under this section shall have a minimum policy of liability insurance in the amount of $500,000 and shall present proof of said insurance to the city.
(D) Registering.
(1) Each person or firm is required to register under this section are hereby required to carry worker’s compensation insurance on his, her or their employees and shall provide proof of said insurance to the city.
(2) The bond shall be renewed at intervals of two years or oftener in the event of the impairment of the surety. The bond may be written by a surety company or may be secured by a deposit of cash or United States government securities in the amount of the bond and shall be filed with the City Clerk.
(3) No person having obtained a gas, oil and solid fuel burner bond with the city shall allow his or her name or his or her business name to be used by another person or company either for the purpose of obtaining permits or for doing gas, oil and solid fuel burner work under this Code.
(4) Any contractor or firm already so bonded under the provisions of the city’s Plumbing Code, § 25.06, are exempt from this provisions.
