§ 150.01 ADOPTION OF BUILDING CODE.
   There is hereby adopted by the city for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures, including permits and penalties, that certain building code known as the 2006 International Building Code and 2006 International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings and International Energy Conservation Code, recommended by the Building Officials Conference of America, Inc., being particularly the current edition thereof, and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended, of which not less than three copies have been and are now filed in the office of the City Clerk and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this Code shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling in the construction of all buildings and structures therein contained within the corporate limits of the city; provided, however, that, notwithstanding the foregoing, this Chapter 150, as well as Chapter 151 (Electrical Code) and Chapter 152 (Plumbing Code), shall not apply to the following:
   (A)   Buildings owned and operated by the St. Clair County Public Building Commission pursuant to the Illinois Public Building Commission Act, which shall comply with Chapter 7 (Building Code) of the St. Clair County Code of Ordinances; and
   (B)   Buildings owned and operated by public school districts organized under the Illinois School Code, which shall comply with the Health/Life Safety Code (23 Ill. Adm. Code pt. 180) administered by the Illinois State Board of Education.
