135.01 PERSONNEL.
   (a)   The Division of Police shall be composed of the number of commissioned officers, patrolmen and patrolwomen hereinafter set forth, who shall receive such compensation as Council shall designate and shall post such bonds as are required by Section 157.06:
      (1)   One Chief of Police;
      (2)   One Assistant Chief assigned by the Chief of Police with the advice and consent of the Safety Director from the rank of lieutenant.
      (3)   Up to four (4) lieutenants, the number of which shall be determined by the Safety Director upon advice of the Chief of Police;
      (4)   Up to five (5) sergeants, the number of which shall be determined by the Safety Director upon the advice of the Chief of Police;
      (5)   Up to twenty-six (26) patrol officers, the number of which shall be determined by the Safety Director upon advice of the Chief of Police.
   (b)   Effective upon the date of retirement, re-assignment or other separation from employment of the individuals holding the assignment to the position of the Patrol Commander and Investigations Commander and Support Services Commander said positions shall be abolished.
   (c)   The Chief of Police shall assign three (3) Patrol Officers to serve as Corporals in the Division of Police upon the effective date of this section. The individuals named to serve as Corporals shall perform such duties as ordered by the Chief of Police or other superior officer.
