§ 31.21 APPOINTMENT; COMPENSATION; POWERS AND DUTIES.
   The person appointed to the position of Fire Prevention Officer shall be appointed as soon as practicable after the adoption of this subchapter and shall serve at the pleasure of the Borough Council. Subsequent appointments shall be made biennially at the Council’s reorganizational meeting. The aforesaid appointment for a special term notwithstanding, the Council of the borough retains the right to remove the Fire Prevention Officer at its pleasure. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment was made for the unexpired portion of the term. If for any reason this office is not separately filled by appointment of, and with approval and consent of, the Borough Council, the Fire Chief of the borough’s Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 shall be deemed the ex officio Fire Prevention Officer and shall have all the powers and duties hereinafter given to or imposed upon the Fire Prevention Officer. Compensation, if any, shall be fixed from time to time by the Council of the borough by resolution. The Fire Prevention Officer shall perform all duties and shall have and exercise all powers prescribed by law.
