The purpose of the civil defense department (hereinafter "department") is to prepare for, and function in the event of, emergencies endangering the lives and property of the citizens of the town. The department is headed by a director, appointed by the town board of trustees for such compensation and under such terms as the town board of trustees may establish. The director serves at the pleasure of the town board of trustees. (1998 Code)
