13-223: AUTHORITY TO ANSWER CALLS:
The fire department is authorized to answer all calls within a distance of five (5) miles of the nearest fire station, if first approved by the fire chief on duty, and unless, in the opinion of the chief, it is inexpedient to do so on account of another fire in the town, broken apparatus, impassable or dangerous highways or other physical condition. The fire chief shall determine that the equipment and personnel to be dispatched for such calls are not needed for other purposes within the town. (1998 Code)
