(a) No person shall engage in the business of a precious metal and gem dealer without first obtaining a certificate of registration therefor as required by Public Act 95 of 1981, as amended, and paying the fee for such certificate as prescribed in the schedule provided for in Section 802.24. Upon payment of the fee, in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 95 of 1981, as amended, the certificate shall be issued by the Police Department.
(b) Any dealer required to be registered under Public Act 95 of 1981, as amended, shall provide the Police Department with the following information:
(1) The name, address and thumbprint of the applicant;
(2) The name and address under which the applicant does business;
(3) The name, address and thumbprint of all agents or employees of the dealer. Within twenty-four hours after hiring a new employee, the dealer shall forward to the Police Department the name, address and thumbprint of the new employee.
The applicant shall inform the Police Department of any changes in the information required by this section within twenty-four hours of the change, except that any change in the dealer's name or address under which the dealer does business shall be provided to the Police Department ten days before the change. No person shall falsify information provided to the Police Department pursuant to this section.
