Section 8.16. Tax Clearances.
No warranty deed for the transfer of real estate or any interest therein shall be received or recorded by the Register of Deeds for the County of Calhoun unless all City taxes and assessments on the property described therein, then due and payable, have been paid. It shall be the duty of the City Treasurer or such other agency as the City Commission may designate, upon request and after the payment thereof, to furnish a certificate that all such taxes and assessments have been paid, and such certificate shall be filed with the Register of Deeds when the document is submitted for record. A fee to be fixed by the City Commission may be charged for issuing the certificate.
