ORDINANCE 23-65

AMENDING THE CITY CODE TO ALLOW FOR OFFSITE DOCUMENT STORAGE

WHEREAS, the City of Batavia has many important records with both historical and administrative value;

WHEREAS, the current storage of those records is not suitable for long-term secure storage, and city code requires those records to be kept on site;

WHEREAS, City staff have spent many hours modernizing the process and clearing out obsolete records.

NOW THEREFORE, be it hereby ordained by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Batavia, Kane and DuPage Counties, Illinois, as follows:

Section 1: Amending Section 1-5-8 of the City Code

The code is hereby amended as follows:

Maintain Records: Supervise City staff in collecting and preserving those documents required to be so kept under the Illinois Compiled Statutes, or the City Council. All City records in the custody of the City Clerk shall be kept in safekeeping. in the Batavia Municipal Building.
