The Mayor shall call the first meeting of the Committee after its members have been appointed as hereinabove set forth, and shall serve as its temporary chairman until officers are elected. Prior to the Committee's first meeting, the Mayor shall appoint a three (3) person nominating committee whose sole duty will be to nominate the names of persons for election to the initial positions of chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. Other nominations may be received from the floor at the first meeting. Persons elected to the aforementioned offices shall serve until new officers are elected in accordance with procedures set forth in the bylaws which by this reference are made a part of this Chapter.
The chairman of the Committee, or his designee, shall be the official spokesperson to the City Council for all official Committee purposes. Communications from the Committee to the City Council shall be routed through the Mayor and the chairman of the City Council's Judiciary Committee. (Ord. 85-1, 1-7-1985)
