§ 151.017 PRINCIPLES FOR NUMBERING AND NAMING ROADS.
All roads shall be numbered in accordance with the grid system described in § 151.015 whenever practical. Roads that run at an angle of 45 degrees or less east or west of true north or true south shall be designated, and numbered where appropriate, as north-south roads. Roads that run at an angle of more than 45 degrees east or west of true north or true south shall be designated, and numbered where appropriate, as east-west roads. Roads may be named rather than numbered when, for reasons of length, variable direction or location, a name designation is more appropriate and convenient for reference purposes. Numbered roads that curve in several directions shall be numbered for the entire length of the road based upon the major tendency of the road running north to south or east to west. Roads which are broken in continuity shall be numbered or named in the same manner as if they ran continuously.
