§ 70.05 SPEED LIMITS.
   (A)   (1)   A person may not drive a vehicle on a street, roadway or alley located in the unincorporated areas of the county in excess of the following maximum limits:
         (a)   Fifty-five mph, except as provided in divisions (A)(2) and (3) below and division (A)(2)(b) below;
         (b)   Thirty mph in an urban district or on an interior street located within a platted subdivision, except as provided in division (A)(2)(a) below; and
         (c)   Fifteen mph in an alley, except as provided in division (A)(2)(c) below.
      (2)   Based upon the Summary of Speed Studies for the county consisting of, and compiled from, engineering and traffic investigation and a map of roadways, streets and alleys within the unincorporated areas of the county, the County Commissioners hereby determine and declare a reasonable and safe maximum limit on the roadways, streets and alleys to be as follows:
         (a)   Thirty mph on roadways and streets within urban districts and interior streets within platted subdivisions, except where a higher or lower maximum speed has been designated in the Summary of Speed Studies and subsequent amendments thereto and on the map of roadways, streets and alleys and by signage placed along the roadway, street or alley designating a higher or a lower maximum speed, in which case the maximum limit shall be the speed so designated;
         (b)   Fifty-five mph on other roadways and streets within the unincorporated area within the county, except where a lower maximum speed has been designated in the Summary of Speed Studies and subsequent amendments thereto and on the map of roadways, streets and alleys and by signage placed along roadway, street or alley, designating a higher or lower maximum speed, in which case the maximum limit shall be the speed so designated;
         (c)   Fifteen mph in an alley except where a lower maximum speed has been designated in the Summary of Speed Studies and subsequent amendments thereto and on the map of roadways, streets and alleys and by signage placed along roadway, street or alley designating a higher or lower maximum speed, in which case the maximum limit shall be the speed so designated; and

         (d)   Forty-five mph on that portion of Sawin Drive located in the county from the intersection of Sawin Drive and Talley Road in the city of Columbus, Indiana.
         (e)   Forty-five mph on that portion of County Road 150 West located in the county from its intersection with County Road 200 South, to its intersection with Deaver Road.
   (B)   The prima facie speed limits set out above in division (A) shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are posted on the roads, streets or highways or upon the approaches thereto.
