3-3-1: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, the following definitions shall apply, except where the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning:
CHARITABLE OR NONPROFIT PURPOSE: Philanthropic, religious, political, or other nonprofit objectives, including, but not limited to, the benefit of poor, needy, sick, refugee, or handicapped persons; the benefit of a church or religious society, sect, group or order; the benefit of a patriotic or veterans' association or organization; the benefit of a political party, group, or candidate; or the benefit of an educational institution.
PERSON: Any individual, organization, group, association, partnership, joint venture, corporation, firm, company, trust, society, religious sect, league or other legal entity, including any trustee, receiver, assignee, agent or similar representative.
SOLICITATION: Conduct whereby any person obtains or seeks to obtain funds or anything of value for any cause whatsoever by means of traveling from place to place, or requests the donation of money, property, or anything of value; or sells or offers to sell any property, tangible or intangible, whether of value or not, including, but not limited to, goods, books, pamphlets, tickets, publications or subscriptions to publications, or brochures. Solicitation shall include the delivery of handbills or circulars door to door for the solicitation of money, products, services or other items of pecuniary value. Solicitation shall be deemed completed when made, regardless of whether the person making the solicitation receives any contribution or makes any sale.
SOLICITOR: Any person engaging in solicitation. (Ord. 03-18, 9-4-2003)
