The Police Department shall enforce the provisions of this Title, and have the following powers and duties:
(A) Records And Violations: The Police Department shall keep an appropriate record of all citations issued for violations of the traffic provisions of this Title or of the Illinois Vehicle Code with which any person has been charged, together with an appropriate record of the final disposition of such citations.
(B) Investigate Accidents: It shall be the duty of the Police Department to investigate traffic accidents and to arrest and to assist in the prosecution of those persons charged with violations of law causing or contributing to such accidents.
(C) Overweight Permits: It shall be the duty of the Police Department to process and issue overweight permits as provided for in Section 9-2-6-4 of this Title. The Police Chief shall report the number and nature of all permits issued each month to the Board of Trustees. (Ord. 85-1, 1-28-1985)
