1-10-8: EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
   A.   Worker's Compensation:
      1.   Certain classes of employees are covered by the Worker's Compensation Act under State law. Eligible employees injured by accident or occupational disease in the performance of official duties shall receive compensation for it if the employee was not wilfully negligent at the time of receiving such injury. Employees receiving compensation under worker's compensation laws shall receive for the duration of such compensation only that portion of their monthly base pay which, together with such compensation, will equal their monthly base pay for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days. Afterwards the employee may receive an amount which together with worker's compensation is equal to three-fourths (3/4) of his base pay for an additional sixty (60) days. After ninety (90) days, no support other than worker's compensation will be paid. Leave benefits will not be accrued while the employee is on worker's compensation. Review for continued employment will be made at the end of ninety (90) days of disability and a decision reached as to future employment status. Such review will be conducted by the Mayor and the town council on a case by case basis and their decision will be final.
      2.   Anyone who wishes to make a claim under workers' compensation must do so within twenty four (24) hours after the injury or other work related health problem is incurred or diagnosed, whenever possible. (Ord. 89-01, 4-18-1989)
   B.   Health Insurance: For permanent full time employees and part time (over 20 hours per week) employees, the town will pay eighty percent (80%) of a single employee's monthly health insurance premium, but not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) per month, and eighty percent (80%) of a married employee's monthly family health insurance premium, but not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) per month.    C.   Life Insurance: The town will furnish a ten thousand dollar ($10,000.00) term life insurance program to full time employees with the premium paid by the town.
   D.   Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed upon successful completion of an approved course or courses in educational or vocational training. The course or training must be related to the work, be designed to improve the competence in the job and must be of value to the employer. All requests for tuition reimbursement must be approved by the mayor and town council in advance of undertaking the course of study.
   E.   Membership In Professional Societies: At the discretion of the mayor and town council, an employee's membership dues in work oriented professional societies may be paid by the town. (Ord. 89-01, 4-18-1989)
   F.   Mileage And Per Diem Authorization: Town employees who are authorized and/or directed to use their own vehicles in the course of town business will be reimbursed, on a monthly basis, at the rate set by resolution of the town council upon completion and submission of appropriately executed forms. Lodging and meal reimbursement shall be for just and reasonable expenses. (Ord. 89-01, 4-18-1989; amd. 1999 Code; Res. 2013-01, 1-8-2013)
