Any person, firm or corporation operating a taxicab service under the provisions of this chapter and desiring loading and unloading space adjacent to or in front of its principal business office shall apply in writing to Council requesting the exclusive use of a parking space or spaces near his or its business office in the area of the Municipality subject to parking meter regulations. Council shall then provide space or spaces as requested as conveniently located for purposes of the taxicab as is possible, consistent with safe and convenient metered parking, except that at any one time no more than six such spaces in the Municipality subject to parking meter regulations shall be set aside for such spaces. Provided that, in order for such person, firm or corporation to bear its appropriate share of the expense of parking meter regulations, such person, firm or corporation shall pay to the Clerk-Treasurer for such privilege, in advance, twenty five dollars ($25.00) per year for each space desired. Upon the payment of such fee, the Chief of Police shall allocate such space, remove the parking meters therefrom and designate and endorse regulation of such space as "Taxi Space Only". Such privilege shall continue so long as the holder thereof shall comply in all respects with the provisions of this chapter and shall pay the annual fee herein provided, in advance. The privilege shall not be transferable.
