(a) The Barnesville Emergency Squad is hereby established. The Barnesville Squad shall be a division of the Barnesville Fire Department.
(b) The Barnesville Emergency Squad shall consist of the following who shall be appointed by the Fire Chief, and confirmed by Council.
(1) An Assistance Chief-E-Squad Coordinator.
(2) Not more than forty members of the Barnesville Emergency Squad.
(c) The officers and members of the Barnesville Emergency Squad shall not be under the age of eighteen years at the time of their appointment, and shall hold an approved Certification issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, and shall be classified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B), Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I) or Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (Paramedic) as defined in Ohio R.C. 4731.82.
(d) Officers and members shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council, shall service as long as the Fire Chief may direct, or until a resignation submitted by any such officer or member is accepted by the Fire Chief, and approved by the Mayor and Council, or until removed pursuant to the following subsection (e).
(e) When the Fire Chief has reason to believe that any member has acted improperly or neglected to perform his or her obligations as a member of the Barnesville Emergency Squad, he shall place said member on administrative leave and report said accordance with Ohio R.C. 733.35 to 733.39.
