(a) The head of the Fire Department shall be a full time Fire Chief who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council, and who shall continue in the office until removed therefrom pursuant to the provisions of Ohio R.C. 733.35 to 733.39.

(b) The Assistant Fire Chief and the volunteer firemen shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council and shall continue in office until removal therefrom pursuant to Ohio R.C. 733.35 to 733.39.
(c) The Assistant Fire Chief and firemen shall pass a satisfactory mental and physical examination and shall become members of the Fire Department only after a six-month probationary period.
(d) Firemen absent from three consecutive drills or calls shall forfeit membership in the Fire Department. (Ord. 541. Passed 5-25-43.)
(e) The Fire Chief shall have direction and control over the Municipal Volunteer Emergency Squad. (Ord. 3079. Passed 1-30-01.)
