(A) Permit required. No person shall operate any taxicab for hire, carrying passengers from place to place within the corporate limits, or carrying passengers between the town to points within a radius of five miles of the corporate limits, unless that person has first applied for and secured from the Chief of Police a permit to operate a taxicab.

(C) Investigation. The Chief of Police of the town or his designee is hereby charged with the duty of checking the state repository for criminal history in investigating the truth of the facts stated in the application.
