No person shall enter or leave or open the door of a parked or stopped motor vehicle on the side of such vehicle next to a lane of moving traffic unless such person has exercised due care that the movement can be made without causing the driver of a passing motor vehicle to suddenly stop or turn or swerve from a direct course of travel, or to become involved in an accident or collision due to such movement.
