153.04 RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
(a) Purpose. The purpose of the Recreation Advisory Committee is to discuss and submit ideas for recreation activities within the City and generally assist in creating an ongoing line of communication between the City and its citizens concerning recreation programs.
(b) Establishment and Membership. There is hereby established a Recreation Advisory Committee to consist of seven members who shall advise the Director with respect to matters set forth herein. Six members shall be appointed by the Mayor. The committee will be as follows:
(1) One member of Council, appointed by Council.
(2) Three residents of the City, not holding other public office within the City, appointed by the Mayor, to serve a term ending midnight, December 31, 2012. Thereafter, the term shall be for two years. Successive terms shall be permitted.
(3) Three residents of the City, not holding public office within the City, appointed by the Mayor, to serve a term ending midnight, December 31, 2013. Thereafter, the terms shall be for two years. Successive terms shall be permitted.
To the extent practical, the City shall endeavor to insure representation from the various youth athletic associations and senior citizens.
(c) Meetings and Officers. The committee shall meet quarterly or as needed. At its first meeting of each year a chairman and vice-chairman shall be elected. A majority of the members shall constitute a quorum and any actions of the committee may be taken by a majority of the members present at the meeting at which the action is taken. The committee shall keep minutes of its meetings and file them with the Clerk of Council. A special meeting may be called by the chairman, or in his/her absence, the vice-chairman or by any two of the committee members. The committee may adopt its own rules.
(d) Jurisdiction. The committee shall advise the Director regarding guidelines for establishing and administering the City's recreation, sports, senior programs, community education and special events. (Ord. 2016-017. Passed 3-28-16.)
